Grace Lutheran Float Day Logistics/Details:

Time: 2:00pm (ending probably around 4pm, shuttle and cleanup to follow)
Where: Willamette Park, Corvallis OR, meeting on the riverside of the Rotary Shelter

We will launch from the park, the launch trail is a little tricky to walk down but we can help folks. The float ends at “Michael’s Landing” close to the Old Spaghetti Factory.

Who: Anyone welcome!

-If you’d rather help with shuttling after the float, we’d love a couple volunteers for that. Thanks!

What to Bring:

  • Your float of choice (tube, paddle board, kayak, etc.)
  • River clothes/swimwear
  • Recommended old shoes or water shoes since barefoot is painful
  • Sunscreen recommended, we’ll have some to share as well
  • Hats and sunglasses
  • Hydration of choice!
  • Life jacket if applicable
  • Pumps for inflating

River Regulations:

  • Oregon law requires life jackets to be worn by children 12yr or younger.
  • For teens and adults 13yrs and older, life jackets are NOT required for the float we are doing on the Willamette River. This would be different for more extreme white water floats/trips on class III rapids or higher, but our stretch of the Willamette is mild and therefore does not require life jackets (still a good idea anytime you are on the water).
  • Paddlecraft (canoes, kayaks, etc.) 10 feet and longer require a Waterway Access Permit (can be filled out online)
  • Single inner tubes are not considered boats.

Free Life Jacket Loaning from Osborn Aquatic Center and at exiting boat ramp:

Head over to Osborn at your convenience to pick up a loaner life jacket. Doesn’t have to be on Sunday, you can go Friday or Saturday before and return it on Monday without issue. It is a simple form to fill out and they have all sizes for anyone interested.
