By Carolyn Warloe On June 11, 2015, the Grace Foundation Board voted to provide up to $100,000 in matching funds to the "Giving it Forward Initiative" as requested by the Stewardship Committee and supported by the Grace Council. "GIF" hopes to eliminate the mortgage or greatly reduce our payments so that the funds once used to pay interest can be channeled to support the mission of Grace. Paying the mortgage off early could save $160,000 in interest over the remaining life of the loan. So far, the "Giving It Forward Initiative" has received pledges of more than $135,000 from the congregation. As these pledges are paid, the Grace Foundation will be matching the first $100,000. The gifts received by the Foundation are always a way of "Giving It Forward." Clara Storvick established a fund to support Grace Center. The Kuehn Fund was established to provide funds for the choir to buy music. Edna Schultz wanted the youth to have funds for trips and activities and so she gifted the Schultz Family Youth Fund. In addition to the Ronnenkamp Fund, these funds and the other funds that make up the Foundation all illustrate the power of giving it forward. So far this year, the Foundation has awarded $13,670.04 to 10 projects. Each of these awards was made possible by someone who donated money to the Foundation or the earnings from endowed funds. Recently Carol Erikson made a donation the Kuehn Fund in her cat Nala's name. I don't know if Nala likes choir music but Carol wanted to provide funds in the future for the choir. Thanks to all the people who donate to the Foundation to support the mission of Grace.
