Amazing Grace
Reaching Out in Love

By Carolyn Warloe

The ministry of the Grace Lutheran Church Foundation was inaugurated on January 22, 1995, at the annual meeting of the congregation of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church. Since that beginning, the Foundation has given more than $410,000 to support ministry projects. The Foundation’s assets are now approaching $700,000, though the Foundation was started with a gift from Alice and Carl Ronnenkamp of just over $260,000. Through wise investments and additional gifts, we have approved many requests for financial support and grown the assets of the Foundation to insure that funds will be available in the future.

As you wander through the Grace buildings, be mindful of some of the gifts to the congregation through the Foundation: piano, musical instruments, sound systems, sanctuary lighting, kneeling pads, albs, communion kits, tables, chairs, all computer systems, telephone systems, fireplace insert, building renovations, and so much more. You made it all happen. Amazing Grace!

While most of our gifts directly support the Grace Lutheran congregation and Luther House, a small portion, approximately 2%, has also reached out to the community outside of Grace. These requests generally come from a member of Grace who sees a need in the greater community. These gifts have included support of the House of Zion in Woodburn (an ELCA affiliated ministry), gifts to people outside the congregation with devastating medical bills, and support for the poor or homeless in our community.

The vision statement for Grace Lutheran Church includes the words, “A Christ-centered community that reaches out in love.” A gift to the Foundation reaches out in love both now and in the future. The Foundation board continues to support many current requests for funds and to be wise stewards of the Foundation’s funds. Because we are able to continue to grow the Foundation’s assets, many opportunities for God’s love to continue to reach out from Grace will be realized in the future. Please consider a gift to the Foundation to allow us to continue now and in the future to support God’s mission and love.
