The Grace Lutheran
Church Foundation is
a professionally
managed corporate
nonprofit foundation
established by Grace
Lutheran Church,
Corvallis, Oregon.

THE FOUNDATION:
What it Does. How You Help.
In January, the Foundation was able to provide $1,000 in matching funds for Haiti. The funds came from the Brian Smith Medical Fund, one of the un-endowed funds in the Foundation. The $1,000 from the Foundation was designated to be used for medical needs. Establishing a fund in the Foundation is one way to insure that money will be available for the congregation, members of the congregation, or needs in the world.
In 2000, the congregation responded to the financial needs of one of our members, Brian Smith, who was battling cancer. It was a battle he ultimately lost. Funds which the congregation donated in Brian's name were used to help the family during the last months of his life. After his death, the family encouraged the Foundation to use the money remaining in this fund to help other people who might be struggling with medical issues. Since then, donations have been made to the Foundation designated
for the Brian Smith Medical Fund and earnings have increased the money available for assistance. And the Foundation used some of those funds to assist another family struggling with a terminal illness..
At any stage of life, we can witness to our faith and hope for the future by sharing our gifts, financial and others. The Foundation can fund more ministry work as the total funds grow, either from gifts or investment earnings.
Gifts to the Foundation have come mostly from three types of "Thank you" responses. Living givers have celebrated a major faith or life milestone in the family, such as a baptism, confirmation, marriage, etc., or celebrated the life of a friend or relative that passed on. While all heartfelt offerings to God should be celebrated, gifts to the Foundation show a vision to provide lasting benefits for God's work.

What You Can - and Can't - Give Us
Part I
You can give money to the Foundation and/or the Church. You can give stock and real estate.
You can give personal property like artwork, antiques, coins and cars.
You can give promissory notes and royalty rights. You can give life insurance and pension funds.
You can give your time. You can donate
your special expertise and your leadership skills. You can volunteer to help with various events.
You can give a hundred different ways.

But there's one thing you cannot give the Foundation or the Church: a gift that will jeopardize your financial security.

The gifts that you make in your estate plan can carry on your charitable support after your death. Consider making a gift to the Foundation in your estate plan.

What You Can - and Can't - Give Us
Part II
We won't let you. At least, we will try our best to prevent it.
That's because we value you and your ongoing stewardship. We want your giving to be right for you in every way.
Making a major gift to the Foundation or the Church requires great care. The gift plan needs to fit you like a glove. It should make sense and contribute to your satisfaction and enjoyment. It should be one of the high points of your life.
  If you are interested in:
a bequest designation in your will
a life-income gift you establish now
If you would like to explore a possible gift of:
a life insurance policy you no longer need,
        closely held stock,
a vacation home you no longer use,
or a piece of undeveloped land.
Please contact a member of the Foundation's Board of Directors. They are available to help answer questions.
