As a member of the first GLCF Board in 1995, I continue to serve because I believe in the mission and ministry opportunities the Foundation offers, but also for sentimental reasons. GLCF has had a profound impact over the last 23 years by providing matching funds and grants of approximately half a million dollars, and I have been privileged to be part of the action! Sentimentally, I was president of Grace when Alice Ronnenkamp passed away and when executor Paul Weswig left two checks totaling $135,000 on my desk one morning before I arrived at my office. That was the first portion of the bequest that launched the Grace Foundation. So, I have been a part of the GLCF journey since its inception, and will assist the organization as long as I'm able. Hal Dick - founding Director
I am on the Foundation Board because I feel it is the responsibility of members of a community such as a church to contribute to the work of the church in every way possible. Ushers, musicians, acolytes, Sunday School class leaders, Altar guild members and committee members all keep the church functioning so that we can be a witness to Corvallis as a place to testify to God's work in our lives. Kathy Vohland - since 2016
When I came to Grace a little over nine years ago, I was delighted to hear about the Foundation. My previous parish had a small endowment fund, but at that time, it hadn't grown enough, so that there would be any disbursements from that fund. We had a vision for a fund such as Grace's Foundation, but were still building up the equity. Since coming to Grace, I have served on the Foundation Board as the ex-officio pastor. During that time, I have had great satisfaction being able to see Grace Foundation help with a number of ministries. We always follow the Grace Congregational Mission Statement of Reaching out with the love of Christ to serve our Neighbors. In following that commission, we have helped dozens of people and organizations. It is a joy to see these resources flow to help our church and community in tangible and generous ways. Pastor Wendell Hendershott - Ex Officio member
I serve because I want to be able to serve my church community, and this is a way I can serve that fits into my busy schedule. I also enjoy feeling like I can help people out with their projects for the church. Kris Saathoff - since 2007 |
