[iii]The Assembly offering this year will go 50% to the Tent of Nations for new trees, and 50% to NeighborImpact, a major Central Oregon food bank and social service agency.

Regarding Tent of Nations, here is an

excerpt from Bishop Dave Brauer- Rieke’s letter:

Last year our Assembly passed a resolution to encourage a pilgrimage of Oregon Synod Lutherans to visit the Holy Land. About 20 of us, myself included, spent the last week of May and the first week of June . . . in the West Bank and Israel. . . .

One of the places we visited was the “Tent of Nations.” It is a farm owned by Palestinian Lutherans . . . Just a few days before we went out to the farm itself the Israeli military destroyed acres of orchard without provocation or cause. It’s complicated, but sadly such things happen in this part of the world. Moved as we were, we promised that Oregon would help them replant.

Regarding NeighborImpact: Since the Assembly is meeting in Sunriver this year, it is appropriate that we support this organization which changes lives by helping families access skills for success, family services, financial assistance, food, housing, heat and energy assistance.

To participate:

  1. Write a check today to Grace Lutheran with the designation, OR Synod Assembly Offering in the memo line, or
  2. If contributing cash, put it in an offering envelope from your pew with the written designation: For OR Synod Assembly Offering.

Our congregation’s voting members will take whatever is received to the Assembly next weekend.

THANKS for your thoughtful consideration of this opportunity to support the work of these international and regional organizations.
