[ii] Cornerstone Chorale and Brass is a widely acclaimed professional touring ensemble, which will present a production on Sunday, October 12, at 7:00 p.m. at Central Lutheran Church, 1857 Potter St., Eugene, OR. It is being presented by the Emerald Cluster congregations of the Oregon Synod, ELCA. A freewill offering will be gathered.

Cornerstone is the creation of its conductor, Dr. Bruce Vantine (a high school classmate of Grace Lutheran Pastor, Wendell Hendershott), who selects a special theme to develop each year, often from scripture. He chooses a variety of choral and instrumental pieces of music, collects quotations from both sacred and secular sources, and composes musical interludes which develop thematically, somewhat like motion picture music. Vantine then weaves all the elements together to create a seamless texture of music and the spoken word. The result is a concert drama that encourages individuals to respond to the needs of others. Cornerstone is a ministry dedicated to energizing and building up mainline churches.
